Mildly amusing that The Sentimentalists by Johanna Skibsrud should be my first ebook read, read on the laptop with the kobo reader free download. Won the 2011 Giller and the small press in Nova Scotia, Gaspereau, (Gaspereau Press and the peril of the Giller) were waiting for their paper order to produce maybe 600 copies a day when orders started coming in for 10s of thousands... I have a cherished Gaspereau book -- On Songwriting by Bob Snider. Bob's lino-cut on the cover produced one at a time on a platen press, beautiful typography, each copy carefully bound in-house. They made a deal eventually with Douglas and McIntyre for a Friesen mass produced trade paperpack of The Sentimentalists and everyone went away happy. Seemed downright mischievous to read it as an ebook.
