THE CRYPTOGRAM by David Mamet from Belfry Theatre on Vimeo.
Certificates from Christmas cashed in: Supper and b&b accommodation at Meghan's condo digs and tickets to a play at the exquisite Belfry Theatre. Baked halibut with citrus sauce, parsnip/garlic potato cakes, steamed asparagus all very cleverly paired with a terrific New Zealand Riesling -- a nice snap of lime like in a NZ sauvignon blanc... David Mamet's The Cryptogram. Unnervingly natural performance by 11 year old Mitch H. Kummen. Directed by Daniel McIvor (Marion Bridge). Followed by a dash across the street to wine bar Stage for a glass of Oregon Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir. ("Although based in Victoria, the Szasz family is well known to Vancouverites. For many years, George's parents ran the famous Szasz Deli in south Granville and Linda Szasz worked front of house for several years at Bishop's." -- from the Stage website. Meghan's friend Jamie was chef with a charcuterie specialty at their Paprika Bistro now with his own Relish recently reviewed very favourably in the Globe) Back to the condo to get the cork out of a Masi Campofiorin and Dad and Meghan watch the replay of the Canucks game. Awfully good fun... Up the Sunday morning, breakfast of fresh fruit and coffee a walk through downtown that includes Russell Books and lunch at Murchies.
